Sibelius Symphony no. 6

The main work to be looked at will be Sibelius’s 6th symphony. Conducted once again by Jonathan Small, there will be chance to study the music in a relaxed atmosphere with a play-through to round off the day.

According to Wikipedia:

Because of its quiet qualities and the uncertainty of its key attribution, the Sixth has been described as “the Cinderella of the seven symphonies”.But like the poor sister, its unassuming qualities grow on the listener.

Wind and brass players should wait for confirmation before making payment due to the limited number of spaces available, but all payments need to be made before July 31st to ensure your place. You may take our word for it that this is always a popular event! As in previous years, refreshments will be provided but not lunch. There are shops in the area to buy a sandwich.
